Civil rights leader Malcolm X's daughter has pleaded guilty to charges of defrauding the 70-year-old widow of one of her late father's bodyguards to avoid a jail term.
Malikah Shabazz has been ordered to repay almost $56,000 (?35,000) to credit card companies she defrauded using Khaula Bakr's identity.
Shabazz pleaded guilty to identity theft in New York's Queens Supreme Court on Thursday.
In a statement, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown says, "The defendant, who preyed upon the trusting nature of a once close family friend, has admitted her guilt in committing a serious felony offence and will be ordered to make her victims financially whole."
Shabazz will be sentenced next month.
