The ancient Greek tragedy re-envisioned by butoh dancer Carlotta Ikeda and poet Pascal Quignard

Carlotta Ikeda ? Photo Lot

For its annual literary festival, the French Institute presents the ancient Greek tragedy Medea as re-envisioned by butoh dancer Carlotta Ikeda and poet Pascal Quignard. A veteran dancer who mixes avant-garde butoh with contemporary dance, Ikeda will move to an original text based on the violent tragedy and read by Quignard in person. The author of works mixing meditation and poetry, Quignard has published some fifty books, and his Les Ombres Errantes was awarded the Goncourt Prize in 2002. The pair will be accompanied by the improvised electro-acoustic and electronic music of French composer Alain Mah?.
