LONDON ? Two British lawmakers say they are trying to win support for the first overhaul of Britain's abortion laws in more than 20 years.
Conservative Party legislator Nadine Dorries, a former nurse, and Labour Party lawmaker Frank Field will attempt Wednesday to amend Britain's public health bill, demanding changes to rules on abortion.
They demand that charities or clinics which are paid to carry out terminations should no longer be permitted to also provide pre-abortion counseling.
Dorries says there is a clear conflict of interest.
Britain, where around 200,000 pregnancies are terminated each year, last changed its abortion law in 1990.
Prime Minister David Cameron's office said Tuesday that he wouldn't support the planned reform.
